4 Boozy Sorbet Recipes to Celebrate Summer

Summer is so close that we can almost smell the sorbet! Delicious in a cone enjoyed at the beach or as an after-dinner dessert on a hot day, sorbet is a treat for the senses. Sweet, refreshing, and fragrant, it’s a warm-weather staple that we can get behind. So, why wouldn’t we add it to our cocktails?

Sorbet actually pairs perfectly with spirits, making it a popular choice for mixologists looking to do something a little different in the summer, and we’ve put together our favourite recipes for your next garden party.

1. Sgroppino

Sgroppino is a sorbet cocktail that’s oozing with both decadence and elegance. Light and refreshing, it’s a wonderful choice for a party or for popping your feet up at the end of a long day, enjoying sweetness and bubbles in equal measure. To make your own, add a couple of tablespoons of fresh lemon sorbet to the bottom of a champagne flute. Add a small splash of vodka and top with champagne for a drink that’s worthy of the summer sun.

2. Rosé Sorbet Martini

When the flowers are in full bloom, we like to celebrate with a Rosé Sorbet Martini. A beautifully floral cocktail that’s as stylish as it is delicious, we highly recommend you try this if you enjoy a glass of rosé! Simply chill a Martini glass before adding a good scoop of lemon sorbet and filling it with your favourite rosé and a good dash of elderflower liqueur. Garnish with edible rose petals for a beautiful cocktail.

3. Raspberry Sorbet Bellini

When you’re brunching in the hot weather, shake up your usual bellini with this very-berry sorbet recipe. Begin with a chilled Martini glass and a scoop of gorgeous raspberry sorbet. Top with a dash of raspberry liqueur, fill with prosecco or your favourite sparkling wine and garnish with fresh raspberries for a pop of colour and flair. A sprig or two of mint wouldn’t go amiss, either!

4. Watermelon and Prosecco Sorbet

Unlike the other recipes, this is a boozy sorbet rather than a cocktail with sorbet. It’s better served as a dessert than a drink unless you want your guests to wait for it to melt! Add a few scoops to a Coupe glass for a sophisticated sweet treat.

This fruity sorbet hides herbal notes beneath its sweet exterior, adding depth and warmth for a slightly more complex palette than other sorbets. Begin by creating a rosemary sugar syrup before blending up one large watermelon into a smooth juice (note: you can do this in a blender, you don’t need a juicer). Add your raspberry syrup and the juice of one lemon, blending again to incorporate all of the ingredients. Stir through 75ml of prosecco and freeze, stirring the mixture with a fork every 30 minutes until frozen.
